Meet Compendium's Executive Team

Julie Tanaka, CEO, has 25 years experience in commercial real estate investment, structured finance, development and workout as an executive, investment advisor and loan officer.  Through her leadership positions with banks, securities and big four accounting firms, Julie has a strong working knowledge of commercial real estate underwriting and workout, debt and equity placement, portfolio management, valuation and litigation support.  Julie earned her BS in Finance and Marketing from the University of MN School of Management and her MBA from Columbia University in NY.  A twice earned “Top 20 Women in Finance”,  “Women to Watch” and "Minnesotans on the Move" award recipient, Julie is very active in the business community, MNCREW and is a board member and President Elect with the MN Association for Corporate Growth (ACG MN). 

Roseanne Hope, President, has practiced commercial real estate law for over 20 years with major Twin Cities law firms.  She has represented banks, commercial developers of retail and office properties and corporate and industrial users in development, financing, workouts, litigation, leasing and land use issues.  A lifelong resident of the Twin Cities, she graduated from the University of Minnesota and William Mitchell College of Law where she served as an editor of the Law Review.  She was the initial president and co-founder of Minnesota CREW and served on the national board of CREW Network.  She is also a member of NAIOP and MSCA and has served on several non-profit boards.

Bren Buckley, Executive VP, [LEED AP} has worked in real estate as a developer and leasing executive for more than 25 years.  Her nationwide activities in (NY, NJ, CT, IL, MI, OH, FL, IA, NE, and TN) have included retail, mixed-use, Class A office, high-tech, multifamily and medical facilities.  She began her career with premier mall developer,  The Taubman Company of Michigan.  She later worked for retail developer, Poag & McEwen Lifestyle Centers, and regional Michigan developer, Burton-Katzman Development. She obtained her AB cum laude from Harvard University, JD from the University of Nebraska and MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago.  Bren is a member of the Bar in Michigan and Nebraska and active in the ICSC and MNCREW.

Michael L. Lebowitz, Chief Business Development Officer, brings decades of experience as an international real estate investor/developer and key strategist in C-level planning, design and implementation.  Michael has founded and served as president of an international executive search firm and an international equipment exporting firm.  His expertise includes complex contract negotiations, identifying and achieving rigorous sales quotas, job benchmarking, leadership training and behavioral assessments to top management teams.  He has advised startups and Fortune 500 companies, implementing his innovative approach across multiple industries including banking, IT, global communications, insurance, transportation and manufacturing. As an advocate for women in business and youth education, Michael has written and presented various management and leadership training seminars to an international woman’s banking association and also wrote, “No One Gets Left Behind,” a financial literacy workbook for young adults.
